April 26, 2023

I was talking with someone recently, who asked me about speaking in tongues and what it was all about. I briefly explain about how it can be a sign to the unbeliever that God is real and active, and it can also be me personally in a place where I don’t know what to pray, so I partner with the Holy Spirit in praying.

After the conversation, I felt convicted. I have not been praying in tongues nearly enough lately.

We often call this our ‘prayer language’ because it’s a gift from God used for prayer. When I don’t know how to pray in English, or how to express it, or don’t even know what to pray for, I pray in my prayer language and the Holy Spirit, who knows all things, partners with my spirit to pray exactly what God would have me pray! It lifts my faith and encourages my heart.

Jude 1:20-21 says, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life."

Can I encourage you to join me in making it a point to pray, using your prayer language, everyday? This is a vital tool that God has given us and we would strive to use it more!

If you have questions about this or being baptized in the Holy Spirit, come talk to me, email or call me! I’d love to sit and talk with you about it and take next steps together.
