January 18, 2023
I'm glad that you are a part of our family at Viewpoint Church! More than simply a place to practice religion, this is a community that God Himself plants his children in to grow together in faith and relationship. I'm excited for all that God is doing in and through us.
Last Sunday, Seth Goodwin brought a message out of Philippians 3 and let me tell you, if you missed it, go listen to it right now. So good! Here's the link to the message, or get the podcast wherever you listen to podcasts (Search Viewpoint Church Podcast). Maybe listen again!
Which brings me to an announcement I give with mixed feelings:
At the end of February, Seth will be stepping into the next season and moving away! Seth was the first person I recruited when we said "yes" to Edgewood. I know that it was God that brought him to mind and move him to say "yes" also! Seth has been our Worship and Tech Director for these 2-1/2 years, and we all have benefitted tremendously! He has faithfully led us into the Lord's presence with skill and honesty. He's written and produced manuals and tutorials for our sound system, helped design and build stage elements, and he has elevated our environment of worship with his tech know-how and his musicianship.
So, obviously, we are sad that Seth is leaving. However, we are also excited for what is next and the possibilities on the horizon. This is God's leading, and so we agree with Him. When you see Seth over the next 6 weeks, would you thank him for all his hard work, time and effort given to our church? Is there a moment that the Holy Spirit touched you through worship or through the message brought by Seth? Tell him about that! Or better yet, write it down and give it to him. Romans 13:7 says to give honor to those to whom honor is due.
Also, on Sunday, February 26th, we'll pray him out and honor him together as a congregation.
A few other things going on that I want you to be aware of:
• Prayer and Fasting
We are 10 days into 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting with our broader Foursquare Family. You are welcome to join in at any time! We're being intentional with our time and sacrifice so that we can pursue more of Jesus. We want God's kingdom and God's will on earth as it is in heaven, and we will push for more of it. For more info click HERE. Or follow along on our Social Media.
• Safe Sanctuary and Planning Center Training- Sunday, Jan 22nd, 12pm
In pursuit of becoming the safest possible place for children and the vulnerable, this Safe Sanctuary training is for all current and future volunteers in all areas of the church. Planning Center is our main tool for communications, scheduling, and organizing. So, it's important to know how to navigate the basics. This will help us streamline operations, yes, but also create space for more people to be involved!
This will be a potluck right after church on January 22nd. (THIS SUNDAY)
Register HERE and plan to bring something to share.
• CISM- Critical Incident Stress Management:
If you were present at 12th Night, on January 7th, and witnessed the events of the evening (specifically the medical emergency), then this CISM is a debrief for healthy processing of the event. You are encouraged to come, next Wednesday, January 25th, at 7pm. Questions? Call Pastor Jonathan.
I'll see you in church!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jonathan
